Here at Stanville Primary School we are a friendly welcoming school, with an enthusiastic and committed staff. Staff work in partnership with parents, governors and the community to provide a well-planned and challenging education of a high standard within a caring environment.
We pride ourselves on knowing our children well and providing them with an attractive and stimulating environment in which they feel happy and secure. In addition, we aim to know our parents and families equally well and offer a range of support and training opportunities for adults. The school has an open door policy for parents. Telephone calls and visits are always warmly received and help us to get to know one another better.

Stanville Primary School was founded in 1937 and consists of a spacious single storey building with eight classes including a Nursery.
We also have a fully equipped Mini-Gym, IT suite and a Library as well as rooms for Music, Special Needs and Resources. In addition we have spaces for delivering an enhanced curriculum and after school activities.
The city centre is only a short bus ride away and offers numerous cultural opportunities to enhance the curriculum. We actively encourage our children to explore Birmingham’s wide range of facilities, taking them into the city centre on a regular basis.
The school building stands in its own large grounds, offering excellent opportunities for learning, as well as providing environmental and sports facilities. There are separate large playgrounds for Nursery, Infant and Junior children and we also have our own allotment, sensory garden, trim trails, sports cage and field.
Just a few minutes away are more playing fields and Sheldon Country Park. We have good links with the Park Rangers and children are actively involved in working with the Park Rangers and at the farm. Local churches, Sheldon Library, Birmingham Airport and The Radleys shopping centre also provide excellent resources. We work closely with other local schools.
The governing body is made up of volunteers who guide and support the strategic direction of the school. The governing body draws upon people directly employed by the school, parents of pupils, community-based individuals and also Local Authority representatives. All involved are valued and equal with a vested interest in the school as a whole whether it be the pupils, the finances or the physical building to name but a few. The governors are all united together as a team in ensuring the best standards for all. For further information about those currently serving on the school governing body please click the icon above to access the GIAS site. Additional information regarding attendance at meetings can be located here.
All admissions from Reception to Year 6 are centrally administered by Birmingham LA. Parents requiring a place in Nursery should contact the school direct to enquire about the availability of places.
Parents considering applying for a place for their children, or those parents requiring advice, are very welcome to visit the school by prior arrangement or contact the school office (enquiry@stanville.org, 0121 464 2322).

At Stanville Primary we do have our school uniform which we encourage all children to wear from Nursery up to Year 6. We also have a supplier who we recommend for PE kits (Brigade - see Nurture and Community page). However, this should not mean that any family are burdened with unnecessary expense. Apart from the relevant colour we do not require uniform to have the school logo and neither do we expect it to be bought from a specific provider. Uniform is viewed as effectively the work clothes for the children. It is intended to ensure that all children are part of the school community and if families can obtain items at a cost effective price in the appropriate colours then this is completely acceptable. The most important thing is for all children to be in school, every day.
In cases where families are struggling with uniform at any time we are fortunate to have received donated uniform which we are happy to pass on so as to support families. At the same time if families have any uniform that child(ren) have outgrown then please send it in to school and we will pass it on to those who can benefit. For further details about uniform please refer to the School Prospectus.
We expect all our children, staff and parents to listen carefully and respectfully to each other.

Under the terms of the Education Reform Act, there is a statutory procedure to deal with complaints by parents who feel that, in relation to the school’s curriculum, the Local Authority or Governing Body is failing to discharge its duties. A copy of the School’s Complaints Procedure is available, on request, from the School Office.
