Stanville School recognises that children have a variety of needs which may be of an academic, emotional, social or physical nature and recognises its responsibility to endeavour to meet such needs. We are a school that is fully committed to inclusive practice and make reasonable adjustments for individuals where necessary.
All children, ranging from the exceptionally able to those with specific difficulties, will be provided with the opportunity to achieve their full potential. We aim to:
Identify individual needs and provide support within the class or school environment;
To seek advice and support from appropriate outside agencies;
To inform parents of their statutory rights;
To meet the requirements of the National Curriculum and the Code of Practice;
To assist the class teacher by providing advice, training and suitable resources at each stage of the code;
To aid accurate assessment, differentiated provision and informative record keeping matching the work of the children.
To work closely with additional professionals e.g. Family Support and Home Liaison Officer, the health service (GPs and consultants) to encourage a 'joined up' working relationship in the interest of the child, parent and school.
Ms Gaynor Upton is our Special Needs Co-ordinator. Mrs Helen Watton, who also works in the Special Needs department, is our Pastoral Achievement Co-ordinator. If you have any concerns about your child or the support that the school provides, please make an appointment through the school office who will direct you to the appropriate department. You can also contact via telephone (0121 464 2322) or email (sen@stanville.org or enquiry@stanville.org).

We aim to meet with all parents with children in receipt of SEND provision an opportunity to provide feedback after each meeting. This is intended to improve the service we provide and ensure you have a voice. If you have attended a review meeting for your child please click on the icon to access the form. This should take only about 5 minutes to complete, but all feedback is appreciated. If you have more than one child and attended separate meetings please can you you complete a separate form for each child as their needs may be different? Thank you for your support and assistance.
If you have a SEND query or concern related to your child then please be aware that we offer a SEND Surgery drop in session every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday afternoon from 2.45am-3.30pm. This is informal and does not require an appointment to be booked, but is on a first come, first served basis. If you would like to access this provision please speak to Mr Runacres, Ms Dailly or Mrs Watton at the start of the day and they will be able to accommodate you in a meeting with Ms Upton.

Your first point of contact around any concerns will be the class teacher and then if necessary the school SENCo, Miss Gaynor Upton. Please explain your concerns to them first. If you are not satisfied that your concern has been addressed, then you should contact the Headteacher, Mr Andy Runacres. Should you still feel the issues have not been resolved to your satisfaction, we will arrange a meeting with the Chair of Governors who can be contacted via the school. If your concern is with the Local Authority, then please contact Birmingham City Council (Special educational needs or disabilities; Birmingham's Local Offer).
